The U.S. geothermal

The geothermal industry in the United States will triple over the next few years, reaching an installed capacity of 10,000 MW, providing electricity to 10 million people in 14 states. The report says the "U.S. Geothermal Power Production and Development Update" of the Geothermal Energy Association (GEA), even after this goal that the potential for growth in the sector will be huge. Currently, geothermal energy is the main source of renewable energy in California, and is present in 7 other states for a total of 3,153 MW. Projects under development involving five other states for a total of 6,443 MW.
"Geothermal energy will live in the next few years an unprecedented growth. Up to now the expansion has been driven by incentives, now we see that with the development of new geothermal projects are in themselves cost-effective, "said Karl Gawell, executive director of Gea. In 2009, the number of projects undertaken has increased by 46%, an increase of 33% of employment, mainly due to funding and facilities of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (the new rules for economic recovery undertaken by the President Obama). The report identifies 132 Gea geothermal projects for which the government has allocated 342 million di dollari.
